OBJECTIVE: Obstructive sleep apnea is being recognized as an important worldwide public health problem, with the prevalence of men in their middle age. Craniofacial skeletal and soft tissue structures of upper airway disharmonies are the important predisposing factors for the development of OSA. Diagnosis of OSA is still a challenging task despite advances in newer diagnostic modalities and imaging techniques. This seminar session will cover pathophysiology of OSA, along with the role of a dentist and an oral and maxillofacial surgery in the diagnosis using various modalities, clinical investigations, multidisciplinary approaches in the management of OSA.
