Basics of Dental Veneers and Dental Photography

OBJECTIVE :

After completing this workshop participants will know how to manage veneers cases : conservative veneers preparation, failures causes and how to avoid them. Moreover, participants will learn the secrets of capturing wonderful professional photos in the clinic.

Focusing on techniques for unnecessary removal of Enamel and preserving as much tooth structure as possible during dental veneers preparation, in addition to a better understanding of the factors leading to failure of dental veneers in the future, will charge each participant with the required confidence to manage the most popular cases for veneers preparation in this two days workshop.  

By teaching the essential variables of settings in dental photography, each participant will be able to take professional and artistic photos in the clinic with confidence. Developing the knowledge of evaluating photos in dental photography and the skills of managing tripod of photography and external lighting will help the participant to solve most of the problems when taking photos in the clinic.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS WORKSHOP ?  

Dental veneers workshop 1st day : 

  • Diagnosis and appropriate case selection.
  • Wax Up and mock up.
  • Putty index fabrication as a preparation guide for minimal preparation. (Theoretical- practical on models)
  • Long term success factors.
  • Step by step preparation antertiors and premolars buttjoint/ overlap/window. (Theoretical- practical on models) 

     Incisal 
     Facial 
     Proximal  
     Finishing.  

  • Considerans for veneers preparation in diastema cases- proximal restorations. (Theoretical- practical on models)
  • Temporary after preparation. (Theorotical- practical on models)
  • Veneers adhesion.

Photography workshop 2nd day : 

  • Parts and types of camera body and lenses.
  • The elements of the photo and how to evaluate it.
  • Positions for dental photography.
  • Tripod of photography
  • Mobile photography 

All topics will be explained theoretically and applied by every participant in the practical part. 

Workflow of the practical part in the dental Veneers workshop : 

Every participant will take two putty impressions before preparation.First one is to fabricate a putty index as a guide for minimal reduction incisally and facially and then every participant will prepare the teeth for veneers, and at the end the participant will check the thickness of the reduced tooth structure using the guide and a gingival probe.  

The second putty impression will be prepared to be injected with injectable acrylic and inserted into the model arch after the teeth were prepared to produce temporary restorations.  

There will be different scenarios for preparing teeth for each participant. First scenario is preparing the teeth with gaps between them as a diastema case. The other scenario is preparing them with proximal restorations or decays. As a consequence the participant will learn how to manage different scenarios during veneers preparation in the future. 

The workflow of the practical part in the dental Photography workshop :  

Every participant will take numerous photos, first one is with random values of Iso- shutter speed- aperture.The next photo will be taken after adjustment of the previous values by the participant, in order to get a better understanding of how the tripod values change the final product. 
The other photos will be taken for different positions.
